The Coopers’ Company held its Annual Livery Banquet on Friday 15th November, upholding the tradition of being the first Livery Company to hold its Banquet in the presence of the Lord Mayor on the first Friday after the Lord Mayor’s Show.

This year we were welcomed into the home of the 696th Lord Mayor Alderman Alastair King and the Lady Mayoress Florence King.

It was wonderful to see many ‘first- timers’ at the Banquet along with their many guests with the largest number attending since before Covid made it’s presence felt.

After the champagne reception a delightful four-course menu followed which was provided by the new caterers at Mansion House (Social Pantry). Music was provided by the Coopers Company & Coborn School Orchestra and the Royal Marines Association Ensemble whose Post Horn Gallop had to be the best in many years taking place on the floor of the Egyptian Room rather than from the Balcony. Patriotic songs were sung with gusto and napkins waved enthusiastically!

The Loving Cup returned by special request from Master Leigh Johnson.

The Master’s speech and more details will be published in The Cooper early in 2025.
